My camera gear as a surf photographer
All my camera gear for surf photography
Here is the list of my current camera gear that I use daily as a surf photographer, to shoot in and out of the water. I also listed what I use for videography and film surf videos.

My camera as a surf photographer
I have been using the nikon Z6ii for the past three years now. I switched from my previous Nikon DSLR to a mirrorless and I am obsessed with the upgraded quality of photos.
Lenses for surf photography
To shoot in the water, I like to use my 24-70mm lens or my 50mm lens. I do really like the quality of a prime lens, the photos coming out of the 50mm are just STUNNING and so crisp. But most of the time, I like shooting at 70mm so I go for the 24-70mm lens.
To shoot the surf from the beach, my go-to lens is the SIGMA 150-600mm. I believe it is the most common lens for surf photographers. I shoot all of my surf videos with this lens.
Tripod for surf videos
A good tripod is essential for surf videos. If you travel, you want to get a carbon fiber tripod which is light and durable. This has been my go-to set up for the past 5 years.
Water housing for surf photography
I have been using an Aquatech water housing since 2020 and I have been really happy about it after drowning two cameras with a previous water housing from another brand – which leaked in the water. After two years of usage, I got my water housing serviced by Aquatech last year in California to make sure it stays in great conditions.
